NEW COOLING TECHNOLOGY FOR PC'S

Researchers at Purdue University are developing a miniature refrigeration system small enough to fit inside laptops and personal computers, a cooling technology that would boost performance while shrinking the size of computers.Unlike conventional cooling systems, which use a fan to circulate air through finned devices called heat sinks attached to computer chips, miniature refrigeration would dramatically increase how much heat could be removed, said Suresh Garimella, the R. Eugene and Susie E. Goodson Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
The researchers developed an analytical model for designing tiny compressors that pump refrigerants using penny-size diaphragms and validated the model with experimental data.

"The best that all other cooling methods can achieve is to cool the chip down to ambient temperature, whereas refrigeration allows you to cool below surrounding temperatures," groll said.

ROBOTS IN 2050

An artificial intelligence expert predicts that robotics will make such dramatic advances in the coming years that humans will be marrying and even have sex with robots by 2050.

Robots will become so human-like -- having intelligent conversations, displaying emotions and responding to human emotions -- that they'll be very much like a new race of people, said David Levy, a British artificial intelligence researcher whose book, "Love and Sex with Robots".

"But for loving relationships -- that is something completely different. In loving relationships there are many more things that are important.

XDR DRAM

Rambus XDR™ DRAM is a high-performance memory capable of 4.0 GHz data rates which can provide up to 8 GB/s bandwidth with a single 2-byte-wide device. The roadmap for XDR DRAM extends to 8 GHz data rates which would provide 16 GB/s of bandwidth per device. Designed for both high-bandwidth and cost-sensitive systems like graphics, compute and consumer electronics applications, XDR DRAM is a key component of the Rambus XDR memory architecture.
The XDR DRAM device uses an 8-bank DRAM core implemented in standard CMOS DRAM process technology and is currently in production at 512Mb density. Unlike other DRAM devices, the x16 XDR DRAM device implements programmable width and supports data busses that are 8, 4, and in some cases 2 bits wide. With this and many other architectural enhancements, the XDR DRAM device boasts much higher efficiency and throughput when compared with other memory technologies, thus making XDR memory the ideal solution for today’s bandwidth intensive compute and consumer electronics applications.

INFLATABLE ELECTRIC CAR

Xp Vehicles brings u an electric car which can travel for up to 2,500 miles on a single electric charge.
XP vehicles state that the Whisper will have a range of 2,500 miles using their “hot-swap XPack Multi-Core battery/fuel cell power plant,” they are aiming for a price point of under $5,000. The cars will be sold direct online, initially only offered in Asian markets,it gets shipped to you in two cardboard boxes, and the estimated assembly time is less than two hours. Perhaps it's that the car is made out of "airbags" - the same polymer materials used to cushion NASA's rovers when they landed on Mars. Then again, it could be the company's claim that you can drive the car off a cliff without serious injury, and that it will float in a flood or tsunami.
The company hopes to have a prototype of the inflatable electric car by the end of the year, with production in 2010 at the earliest.

WI-SPY TROUBLESHOOT, ANALYZE.

This new version of Wi-Spy features upgraded hardware and software!
Wi-Spy is the world's smallest 2.4 GHz spectrum analyzer and has been designed specifically for troubleshooting and analyzing Wi-Fi networks. Its software allows recording and playback of data traces and draws pretty graphs.

We're excited about Wi-Spy 2.4x and think you will be, too! The hardware has been redesigned to increase the frequency and amplitude resolution with an added reverse-polarity SMA adapter. Wi-Spy 2.4x is packaged with a powerful little antenna, so it’s good from the start but it's also a snap to screw-on any RP-SMA antenna you choose. The Chanalyzer software has been upgraded to version 2.1, which takes full advantage of the higher resolution with improved graphics and an even friendlier user interface.
Increased frequency and amplitude resolution
Helps you identify wi-fi interference (802.11 b/g/n, microwave ovens, cordless phones, Bluetooth, etc.)
Frequency range is 2.400 - 2.4835 GHz
Record/playback data traces
Frequency/amplitude marker
