South Korea's Samsung Electronics on Monday unveiled what it says is the world's slimmest liquid crystal display(LCD) TV.

The new product, measuring only 6.5 millimeters (0.26 inch OR1/4 inch) thick,is equipped with an LED back light is seven times thinner than Samsung's Bordeaux 850, the slimmest TV is available on the world market, Samsung said in a statement.

The new product, which adopts an LED (light emitting diode) back lighting system, will be on display at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 8 to 11, Samsung added.
